    Hot Oil

    Can I just check out oil temperatures with anyone else running a 2.7RS engine.

    Mine is a stock 2.7 RS (210bhp) cooled by the engine oil cooler and a 3.2 oil cooler mounted under the front wing.(with no fan and no real airflow - just ambient cooling thru heat dispersion)

    In general road use the temp never really exceeds 220F. However after a concerted run around a track it climbs to 250F. It doesn't go above that but I am conscious that Bruce Anderson describes 250F as 'too damn hot'

    Having spoken to my mechanic I am told that 250F is not unheard of in a race for an early 911.

    Any thoughts?

    Make sure your thermostat is opening,,,, touch the lines under the rockers ,,,, at that temp,,,the thermostat should be wide open... and the lines will be way to hot to touch. My stock rs never gets past 85 degrees celcius with an RSR oilcooler mounted in behind the bumper opening...

    The ambient temperatures may be different between Germany and UK; maybe not. Check the basic oiling system to make sure everything is okay. If so, I'd consider ducting in some add'l air to the cooler. The fender location is very air restrictive, like installing an oil cooler in a box. Or you can make it more like glaverbel911's setup by installing an "RS" front bumper and front oil cooler. 250 is too hot.
