I hope I never have to do another pedal cluster rebuild

Even though I have been through this before, that roll pin is a tough deal after 30 years. I used all the methods I could find: A week of PB Blaster, heat and impact. I broke 2 punches and 2 nail sets plus dulled several drill bits. Got it out w/o reaming out the pedal or the shaft, so the new pin should fit gudentite. Getting the pedal off the shaft is another story. Started it off with a battery cable puller (broke that too) and when I could get the jaws of a regular puller in there, I finished it off, or it finished me off. Enough for today. (Day 7) Caliper rebuild kits should arrive tomorrow.

A review: Car arrived here from KY 8/31. Started out by firing the motor and checking out the trans while on stands. Good to go there. Brakes frozen solid and trouble with throttle linkage which was only the plastic bushings. Gas tank being reconditioned for $235. Needs tires before first ride.

It looks great, but it's supposed to mount in the footwell not the hood!

That pin can be a beatch. I recommend driving it out, not drilling.

It's too easy to chew away some of the metal on on the clutch pedal shaft if you drill. I did the once and inadvertantly removed just a bit of metal. The car ate roll pins for breakfast. I kept a stash of them in the glove box and learned to replace them in about 15 minutes, in any parking lot!

Ultimately I replaced the clutch pedal lever.

The way to remove them is find a shaft that is slightly smaller (.005") than the roll pin, then use a hammer in whatever size is required to drive it through.

    Looks great Milt.

Ahh yes. What starts as a pedal cluster rebuild will no doubt spread like cancer and become a total ground up resto. I'll be able to ask you years from now....

"Hey Milt, whatcha doing", to which you'll answer the same answer you'll always answer.

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.

Well, I was lucky. I didn't nick the hole while drilling. After 5 days of soaking with PB Blaster and breaking a few drive punches, I had to drill it. BTW, I lke it on the hood. What's the use of burying something like that under a bunch of carpet? Useless down there if you ask me....
