If I were to order a new Porsche in Gulf Blue.....

Would it be considered a "paint to sample" type of request?

    Just curious......

    Thanks,

If you go to the Porsche site color page you will see the 4 solid colors and 8 metallics offered as standard on the new Carreras. Gulf Blue is not one of them, so I would have to say it would be a special option color.

Pretty lame that a car costing what a new 911 does has so few color choices. Remember how many there were in the '70s? Usually a couple of dozen every model year.

This seems to be a trend. I bought a new Range Rover a few months ago....there were six colors available and NO special order colors. In England RR has a program called Autobiography which will allow the customer to get a color to sample. Why that isn't available here is beyond me, especially on a $75,000 vehicle.

I saw a Gulf Blue 993 on the freeway a week ago ... he said it was a factory color. I said it was beautiful.

I think I've seen the same car. Was it a 4s?

Yup ... at least, it had all the right 4S gear. There was a guy driving who looked to be in his mid 50s ... real smiley Very cordial at 85mph on the freeway at 7:00am on a Wednesday.
