    Hi George - no, I don't think the tyre has ever been on the road - the little rubber 'spikes' are still all the way round the circumference & the 165 15 size marking is still clear as can be seen in the photo.

    Correction...

    Ok OK...I stand corrected, I re-checked my space-saver spare today, now that I am home from work:

    It IS 5.5" Steel rim, date stamped 4/73, per Kardex, the build date on my car. The TIRE itself, looks exactly like George's photo; Mine too has the 165x15 in white lettering, and still has the little 'bibs' on the rubber...
