    aftermarket steering wheels

    great info on Fuchs wheelds......thnx to all; well i picked up an orig owner 70 T overweekend and drove it 6 hrs. home......great ride;Re: steering wheels.... what is the difficulty of taking off and installing aft.mrkt st. wheels?...thnx again to all

    I've only removed & replaced my original wheel a few times, a pretty simple job. I would think that replacing it with an aftermarket wheel would be pretty easy. To remove:
    1. Unhook batteries
    2. Push down & turn horn button to the left
    3. See the big nut? Take it off.
    4. Pull up on the wheel...

    Not difficult, but a few things to know:

    -Twist OEM wheel horn pad counter clockwise to remove.
    - Get a deep socket and a long bar or broomstick to hold the wheel when you loosen nut. DO NOT loosen against the steering lock mechanism.
    -You'll most likely need a steering wheel puller to remove from spline - available at Sears cheap.
    - Aftermarket wheels require an adapter.
