    RS wheel????

    I've got a 7 x 15 wheel. Date stamped 1272 on the lugs, part number is 911 361 020 01.

    Parts book says RS 7 x 15 is 911 361 020 11.

    So what do I have?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Eric, I think that the difference between the two 7x15" Fuchs part numbers is down to the change-over in the centre caps:

the earlier '01' part number is for wheels which accept the 3-prong centre caps.

They have a thicker flange around the (smaller) central hole:

Whereas the later '11' part number is for wheels which accept the ring type centre caps:

This is certainly the case with the equivalent 6x15" Fuchs -

    Part numbers 911 361 020 00 vs 911 361 020 10.

    Eric

I have both types of 8" Fuchs; one takes the the 3 pronged center cap, one takes the other type. I will check Part numbers later and call.

    OK,

I checked, and I have the thicker type, and it takes the three pronged centercap, so its definitely an RS wheel right??

But I'm still confused by the parts book. Can anybody clarify this for me?

    Regards,

    Eric

    Eric, I don't think that there's a definitive answer !

I have an RS Lightweight Fuchs spacesaver dated May '72 which has the '00' part number & accepts the 3-prong centre cap.

Apart from removing the wheel from an original RS with known history from new, I don't think that there is any way of stating categorically that a particular wheel came from an RS or was Factory-fitted to another '72/'73 911 model.

Incidentally, I have had a number of sets of 6&7's, 7&8's & 9&11's in recent years - in each case taken off the car as a set & in several cases the month/year date codes have been a few months out between F&R wheels.

Thanks for the clarification George - I thought it was peculiar that the wheel looks slightly used but the tyre looks like it's never been on the road !
