Thread: Sport Seats.

    Sport Seats.

OK, now that I've got everybody's attention...I am trying to remove the STD seats from my '72, and replace with a nice set of Sport Seats.

While removing the std seats, I managed to strip one of the allen head screws - there are 8 holding the seat rail in - I managed to remove the other 7. I cannot for the love of God get this thing to TURN.

Does anybody have any suggestions on HOW TO GET THE DAMN THING OUT?

    VERY FRUSTRATING....

Or grind it down and hope that you have enough to grab onto with some mini ViseGrips after pulling the seat. Either way, soak it with something like PB Blaster overnight or you will break the Easy Out in it. Then you will definately have a problem. I have had sucess with these and other bolts by working them back and forth. Once you get it just started to move, let some more pentrant get in there for a few hours.

Another option when working on a frozen/stripped bolt is to weld the allen wrench or socket to the bolt. Yeah, you will sacrifice a tool, but usually the heat will free up the threads and prevent all the drilling. Plus when you use an E-Z out you run the risk of breaking it off in the fastener and then you are REALLY screwed!
