    thin flange ssi's

    just saw an ad for ssi's.....someone asked seller if they were thin flanged....please explain what that means....and how do i know what my 70T would use...thanx!

    Later engines ('84 - on, I believe), use a thicker mounting flange on the cylinder head. Your early engine would use the "thin" flange versions of the SSI heat exchangers.

    I don't know exactly when the thick flange started, but it was with the SC's. I have several boxes around from 78-82 cars and they are thick flange.
