Thread: Recaro SPG

    Recaro SPG

I bought some period bucket seats. They aren't so buckety and are just plain uncomfortable. I thought I would try a new Recaro SPG drivers seat. I understand that they don't make a seat base for our cars - Someone on this forum must have put these seats into an early 911. Any hints ?

    seat base

I have seen Pole Positions in early 911's so I would be shocked if any other Recaro bucket would not work....try Brey Krause or SpeedWare.... I think Jack Olsen has Recaro's in car.

What seats did you try?? The sparco mounts work great on the SPG seats.

I used the Recaro slider & base mount for the '73. I use the SPG at the track and the SRD for the street. Swaps out in about 10 min. I found the SPG too restrictive for street use (think baby seat). The Pole Position might be a nice dual use seat.
    '73 S coupe (street)
    '73 E targa (track/street) 3.2 & many suspension changes
    '68 v.w. crewcab w2/4 & 5 speed

I got cheaper (than Recaro) side brackets, and had adapters made to fit them to stock sliders. The Recaro side brackets would have needed adapters, too. I got mine from Werks II in Burbank. I think they were $75?

Thery're comfortable seats, by the way.
