I thought about whether or not to identify the owner, but he has his business name on the car so I'm guessing he would like the advertising.

It belongs to Matt Blast, owner of Eurometrix http://www.eurometrix.ws/ Matt is the guy you go to to have your Porsche's carburetors or throttle bodies overhauled.

I understand the car was raced by Danny Ongias during its original racing career, but I don't recall other details.

The car was built in a batch of 7 at the factory in 1972 I believe. Its based on a 72 S chassis. It was raced in europe before Vasek purchased it. My daughter and I were at NHIS and Matt took us out for a "Taste of the Track". It is a 2.5 high butterfly screamer which turns 8500 rpm!! Wahoo!!!! And yes Matt can drive it well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last time i saw that particular ST race was with VARA in the Palm Springs GP. It was driven by Danny Ongais with such verve that there wasn't a straight panel left on the car by the end of the race. Remember that Vasek's instructions to his drivers were "you MUST finish first!"
    Very cool car

    Jens,
Very nice pics! I took shots of this car at Matt's last year when the engine was out for a trans rebulid.
Gary posted them on the R Gruppe web site. Nice lookin engine there!

    Greetings, yawl...
    happy holidays.

Been awhile since I've been here...just tripped over Jens' shots of the ex Polak ST.

This is an interesting car. I did a photo study of it myself when it first came out of Polaks' collection. PML coordinated the deal between the Polak estate and the "original post-Polak" buyer, who lived (and still may) in Escondido/Valley Center, Ca. I've got some cool shots of it with Palomar mtn. in the background. And no, it didn't show nearly as well as it does now does in Jens' shots.

The cars' original color was yellow...at the time, part of the inside door jambs were still this original yellow color. If I'm not mistaken, Polak painted all of his cars white, and ran them either as #0 or #00.

Anyway, it wasn't in Escondido long (about a year) before it was sold again...

    cheers

Probably still owned by Matt Blast at Eurometrix. He also has a very nice RS.
