First owner's photos of RS #451

First off I want to thank GeorgeK in Switzerland for his help with putting me in touch with Hanspeter, the first owner of my RS. I sent him a photo of the front cover on the Pflegegass that came with #451 and he found Hanspeter's phone number and called him up. Interestingly he lives in the same house he lived in when he first took delivery of the RS on 03/23/73 at the Porsche agent G. Lafferma in Basel.

Hanspeter speaks German, but no English so I sent him a fax with several questions and his son did the translation for us. I found out that Hanspeter owned a 911 and 911S before ordering the RS. He had the following things done before he took delivery:
    -The car was put "deeper/lower"
-stronger sport chassis (I think this means larger torsion &/or anti-sway bars)
    -other springs and shock absorber
    -sport steering wheel

The first photos are from a "driver-cours in Hockenheim"

(#451 being used as intented by Hanspeter )

The next photos were taken later after he had changed to a rear wing and changed the wheels to 7 & 8" Fuchs. He told me that he changed to the wing for better high speed stability.

Hanspeter sold the RS because it got too small for his family. He sold it to a mechanic/race car driver, Mr Madoerin. The car still has stickers on it from his garage.

    Brian,

Awesome pics. Way to go tracking down the first owner. The pics and the history add tremendous charm & patina to your car. I'm very jeolous!

Perhaps my New Year's resolution will be to find an Italian speaking registry member and see if we can't track down the first owner of my baby. Dream on Rob!!!!

Very, Very cool. Now you know why the original Ducktail was missing. It actually looks good with the Carrera wing and black wheels. Great find. My green RS was also from Basel.

    Best,

    Don

    Really a neat story

Wouldn't it be great if we could all do the same.

    Super work Brian !!
I think the photos from the original owner add a lot to the package. Anything like that creates more value. Not to mention self satisfaction! I am doing the same homework on my #987, it's going kinda slow, but I'll get there.

That's a great story, thanks for sharing! I'd love to find the first owner of my car, if only to find out what he was doing to put 30k miles on the car in its first year!

30K in the first year? Obviously, he was smiling...and driving!

Instant Pedigree! Very cool Brian. No prissy suburban mall run RS HERE - it was used as intended.

Looks like it was a Carrera decal delete?

I know the garage decal bothered you at first, but now it's a part of the car's history. Are you going to keep it? Have you tried calling the number?

Betcha don't care to find the sap who put the gold stuff on it .

This is difficult to explain to you young guys..but really...back then, the 70's? 911S's, and yes, even the now revered RS were considered much the same as the muscle car guys considered GTO's, 'Vettes, and Camaros. Cars to be played with, modified to the owner's pocketbook, taste, and purpose. In other words, "just cars". We had no idea that today's insanity was in the future. We were just playing cars...only with real ones.
