i was looking at droping this in my 68, are these good as in reliable engines and would this dramatically decrese the value of my car.

Oh yeah, would it be possible / advantages to put my webber carbs on this engine?

I figure a used/sorted 2.7 L would go for $2-3k. A sorted 3.0 L would go for $4-5k.

This is a 140 hp engine. I would not pay more than $1,000 because an engine with 2000 miles on it should not leak ANY oil. I suspect there is much more to the story. Most likely a $8-10k total rebuild.

Also, I looked at what other things this guy sold, all old, American beaters for less than $1,000. Also, he bought a new air cleaner cover for a 2.4L CIS engine. Hmmmmmmm.

Now what would he be doing with a Porsche engine?

As far as adding carbs, it can be done but to get the boost in HP I think you are seeking, you would also need to replace the pistons and cams with something much less mild.

The CIS Fuel injection cannot stand pulsing of the intake flow. As a result, the cams have very little overlap (such as is developed in a high spcific output Porsche engine) and the pistons are shaped to also minimize pulses that upset the CIS. If you want this engine and want more HP, I would use the 7R case to make a 2.7 L RS replica engine or some such thing.

Anyway, that is my take.
