So the gauges on the '69 911 have the two retention bolts on the backside to hold them in, unlike later gauges that can simply be popped out.

So here's my stupid question: how do you get to the backside of these gauges to unscrew the *$&@%%*# retention bolts?

I want to repaint my gauge trim rings. I tried to approach from underneath the dash this morning and couldn't even see the backside of the gauges. What am I missing here?
