Nice looking E on ebay. Anyone know the car?

Among the usual dealer junk on ebay, I came accross what appears to be a very nice original-paint, two-owner E. Has anybody seen this car or care to offer an opinion on condition or price. I am not looking for another early car, but when an original one like this comes along, I get sort of weak.

By the way, the reserve price has been met at $18,000.

Wow! If it was close to me, I'd sure be going to look. 5 days to go? I'm betting it'll go for more than the current $18K...a lot more.

    yup...

I spoke with the seller on the first day the ad hit ebay, he already had a number of Euro buyers falling all over themselves to get to it. He told me that he was expecting $20-22K. I'm certain that he got it.

    Angry You know what?

I'm getting tired of "advertisers" on Ebay. I can't count on one hand how many I've bid on that have been pulled. One even after I paid for a PPI. Almost called for a PPI on this one and decided to bid without one.

Where's the Integrity gone? It's one thing to openly advertise that the auction could be pulled but, come on! Usually that's the realm of the "no reserve" seller. Can you say "I'll pay you to end the auction"? He would have hit what he was looking for with the interest shown. Those with no Gones should place print adds.

I'm drifting in a sea of no 2.2 in my garage despair.

The whole auction seemed fishy to me. There were a trio of new Ebay user ID's bidding up the price until it hit the reserve. I'd be very interested to know if the seller sold the car and for what price.

Oops. insert foot in mouth. Sorry.

I guess I've just gotten so cynical re: Ebay. Horror story after bad experience after disappointment. Including myself.

I know, maybe a new thread -- I BOUGHT MY EARLY 911 OFF EBAY AND IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE!

    Anyone?

I sympathise...and I will admit that this E appeared to be in similar condition to my S. If/when I ever wanted to sell my car? I doubt I'd use ebay...hell, I'd just pick up the phone, or send an email or a letter or two...

In defense of some eBay sellers, the opposite is also true. i.e. somebody wins the bid and never completes the sale. Makes it tough to turn down a 'cash in hand' offer to take it off the auction block.
