    If 73 was the first year of body colour under the trunk, how come pwd72s's is body colour? I would go with 72, i.e. the 2.4s

    What they are referring to is that Prior to 73" ,,,the engine compartment, wheel wells and underneiths were brushed on black.. In 73' ,, only the bottom leading edge of the rockers were black,,, the engine compartment as everything else was body colour..

    Your 70' to 73' model years front truck compartment were all painted body colour as well,,,, including Karmen bodied cars for 71'... If your car was metalic,,, there was little or no clear coat in the front truck compartment and it had a very dull appeareance..

    Thanks to all for your responses.I guess it is time to get to work. BTW watched the 86 911 gembella ( which initially cost over 300,000 to produce) at the Barrett Jackson sell at no reserve at 64000.IMHO probably got more than deserved..... Regards to all

    Just to throw a cat amongst the pidgeons I have just restored a Burgundy Karmann built 1970 2.2E which was black in the trunk

    Thats right Nick,,,thats why I mentioned for the 71' karmen cars on,,, the truck was body colour...
