3-prong to ring caps - when?

When did they switch over to the ring caps for the Fuchs wheels? Would this have been a universal change to all the sizes, such as the 15x6, 15x7, 15x8?

Is it possible to get a three prong cap to fit on a ring cap wheel? Or are there later style center caps without the two holes? Just trying to make my car look more original.

In an earlier thread someone pointed out that the parts numbers for the 15x6s were:

    911.361.020.00 (accepts 3-prong centre cap)
911.361.020.10 (accepts 'ring' type centre cap)

Curious to know if there was a part number change for the 15x7's and 8's as well.

I've been able to modify the 3 prong caps to fit my 5 1/2 X14 Fuchs for my 76 912E.

You need to expand the prongs out & they will work.

As to when they changed to all ring caps , I don't know.
