Thread: Yopurp's Car Ready?

  1. #11
Mine was an all encompassing fixed price project. I ended up upgrading some pieces along the way, but no, the price of the project is exactly what we agreed to up front. As the work went on, they found surprises (not good ones, never are) and had to eat the labor or find a replacement part as they went. I'd bought the car from them as well, so they couldn't put those surprises back on me.

    Hope that helps.

    Chris:

Mine was fixed price also, for the car in a promised mechanical condition, repainted from bare metal up. Then we went to the add-ons, which were variable based on what the parts cost. Some were less, as we lucked out on Ebay, etc. Some were more. All in all, the price is within 5% of my initial goal price. Considering all the variables, that isn't all bad.

Some day, I would love to see yours in person, and share a joy ride and the stories.

Sounds like a summer roadtrip to the left coast is in order then. You and Jared can run a convoy. I'll even meet you in Reno show you guys the backside of the Sierra Nevada. Just tell me when.

    Maybe Next Year

Sounds like a GREAT trip. I would love to do it, but knowing that you guys are all skeptical that I will have my car by then, maybe I would have to pass on it for 2004.

I would seriously think of that kind of a trip in 2005!! A bit early to plan, but I'm SURE my car will be done by then.

    Are you sure about that?

(From a guy who's car got painted in about 10 days, and doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.)

Let's see... Detroit to Daytona to Reno to Monterey... maybe I won't even return to Detroit!? Sounds great!

Let me check the market and see if I can retire today for a life on the road....

... oh well, there's always the lottery - right Paul?

Eagerly awaiting Chris' shakedown report, complete with photos!

Ok, who hijacked my thread on my car with some roadtrip thingy? Oh yeah, me. Ooops.

Back to my car. Wayne called yesterday and they are going to tackle everything on the list except the tach next week. I'll live with that.

In addition, I think i'd mentioned a few times that the paint kept getting dinged and scratched. Well, Wayne and Luis want to re-shoot the whole car, because they know this community will see the car and that it has their name on it. Also, because its 8080 Metallic Silver, its not easy to spot paint. They've put some serious work into the car and they want it to rock (quote from Wayne). I know some of you will never change your opinions about Wayne or Born2BFast (and have real reasons not to).

Its gonna be another week now, but hopefully the car will speak for itself.
