    Oil Tubes?

    Chris:

I am glad that they are making good on your the things that were identified in the PPI. Also that they are taking care of the paint. I am sure that the car will look GREAT!!

Just out of curiousity - are they going to do anything about the oil tubes? I saw a post on Pelican yesterday by someone selling a set of oil tubes (in good condition - whatever that means) for $440 plus a 24 tube oil cooler for $150. It went in a hurry.

But even though I think that it may be typical that these would be dinged and dented slightly (after 30 years of use), I would be less than happy to have one that had rubber pressure hose spliced into the middle of it.

Don't mean to raise a concern on your car, Chris, but does anyone else have experience with these Oil Return Tubes? Would you consider rubber hose spliced in acceptable?

Thought the R Gruppe meet in Monterey was slated to coincide with the Speedster Anniversary in June. no?

The Porsche Speedster turns fifty in 2004 and we’re going to celebrate
the occasion June 25-27, 2004 in and around Pebble Beach,
California. We will honor the Speedster, its predecessor – the America
Roadster, and itssuccessor – the Convertible D. Most of the existing
America Roadsters are expected. The very first Speedster prototype (no
door handles) will be displayed along with the other three prototypes and
the two Carrera Speedster prototypes; among these are Porsche’s first
Speedster and Carrera Speedster racecars. The Sauter Roadster, the last
two Speedsters, and the prototype Convertible D are also expected. All
told, we are planning for 350 of the featured cars plus an equal number
of other 356s and vintage Porsches as part of the Porsche Corral.

    Chris,

Very glad to hear your PPI went so well.

That list seems very good to me, no 'show stoppers' it seems.

The only pointer I have is with the tach lights.

I have the same problem, but it is only when the charge is very low. Once the car has warmed up and has been run for a while and the battery fully charged the problem does not reappear.

Even if its left over night and used the following day.

Could this been part of the problem?
i keep my car on a trickle charger most of the time but even so I'm not sure its as good as a running recharge.

Hope you get the last few problems sorted soon.
    Look forward to seeing pics.

    Michel.

    Michel,

Thanks for the info. Could be, as the car hasn't really been driven more than a few miles in the last month, but lots of starting, etc... I'll let you know.

Rick - that weekend in June is not only my BDay, but my wife's friend is getting married that weekend. No wayI'm gonna get a hall pass. Is that for sure the RGruppe weekend? Maybe I'll come down in the morning on Sat, and again on Sun. ITs my BDay after all.
