    Rubber wedge inside of door

    Guys,
When I removed the driver's side door upholstery to clean and lube the outside door handle, I noticed a black rubber wedge shaped part (about 2 inches by 2.25 inches) lying in the inner cavity of the door. What is this thing? What does it do? Where does it go? and what happens if I don't put it back? It probably was lying there for a while. I could not find any reference to it in the 72/73 parts manual.

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Daytona.

For Gods sake, don't touch it! It's a German wedgie!

Nom de Plume!!! Having looked things over, it is clear that the wedge does keep the window winder off of the bottom of the door shell (and probably kills vibration when the window is down). Now if I could just figure out where the white goes when snow melts.
