Hi,

Thinking of buying one of these cars, most likely in a driveable format instead of fully restored. It needs to be solid more so in the body department than mechanicals. What can I expect to pay? I'd like an original car, the less mods the better.

The price range on the SWB cars is WIDE. A rusted, dented "project" 1968 911L for sale at $2,500. A "once celebrity owned" 1967 911S asking $30K. Best for you to find a candidate, check it out thoroughly, and then get opinions on whether the asking price is "fair."

That's fair. My range is 12 to 15k. Will that get me a good daily driver?

Check this one on EvilBay. It's on the east coast and looks like an original '67 in driveable condition.

On the other end of the scale is this 1968 911L ex-Trans Am car in Canada which is a total barn-find, basket-case, project car for which the asking price is $27K (hopefully that's in Canadian dollars!)

Thanks everybody. I like my sc, but I also like the swb early models. I saw that 67 on ebay, wasn't sure if the stripes and 911 graphics were original. I'd like a silver one. My search will probably start this summer, need to sell the sc first.

!968's had that EVIL Smog pump on them, that always made them a witch to keep in tune. Also they had those funky plastic side reflectors on them...if U like SWB's then go for a 65-67 model years. If U ask me it's the 69 through 73's that are the cats meow.

I just don't see as many 65 - 67 911's up for sale as I do the 69 - 73 cars. Production numbers have alot to do with it I suppose.

Fewer cars and 4 to 8 additional years where they are at risk of damage from accidents, poor quality customizing and restoration, and of course, our old friend rust, keeps the numbers down.

The swb cars have an undeserved bad reputation and that keeps their prices lower than the lwb cars. Good for us that love 'em.

You may consider including the 69 - 73 cars in your search as well. Of course, I understand the desire for a swb.
