    Hooboy...now I'm really going to add to the confusion. I had my shift mechanism updated to '73 specs shortly after buying the car in 1974. Didn't know this entailed a lever change as well. Maybe this is why the memory of a shiny lever? Oh gosh...the agony of it all!

    My 67 normal has chrome , with a threaded end for the knob- is THAT correct.
    If so how does the black plastic shift knob that I just found to replace the wood one fit on ?
