Thread: nice '73 911E on ebay

I don't know Bruce personally but I have had correspondence with him over the years. He's a fine person and a real gentleman.
Everyone that knows Bruce speak positively about him.

I contend that the prices are based on what information he can glean through normal sources. Not many of our cars pass through normal channels and nobody tells the truth at DMV when it comes to the price so as to beat the sales or licensing tax.

Collector cars and bikes for that matter rarely get much press unless they are sold at the major auctions and then you have something to go on. Haven't seen too many early Porsches at these events.

Most reputable dealers will not give away information on what a client pays for a vehicle. If they do find another dealer. It's nobody's business.
How this "lack of information" affects the price of my car means nothing to me. I don't plan to sell it and if I do I already have a buyer so why worry?

"FL is the rust capital of the world second only to Michigan and the North East."

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule ..... the Gray Wolf has been in Michigan since day 1 and is 'rust-free'.

At $22,500, you'd probably score the highest 911E sale of all time.
And that would be good news for all of us 911E owners (especially those of us with our MFI intact and running perfectly.)

    Don't sell your early 911 non-S short

    Sandy,
Don't sell your early 911E short. Good clean early examples of any 911 are hard to come by and very expensive to restore. I and everyone here who's taken it upon themselves to restore a 911T, 911E , 911S - or 912, already knows.
Someone once told me that you can find plenty of early 911's for under $10k, but by the time you are done getting it sorted out properly, it will still cost you north of $20k. Whether it's a T, E or S, 98% of the parts are the same, and new Porsche parts cost the same. It's a difference of appr. 25 hp, ventilated frot discs (on the early ones), different deco trim, and depending on your choice, a set of struts that everyone is paying $15-20k extra for - and the badges that says "911S". Ask brother Larry with the Viper green 73E if the resto work on his car is cheaper by virtue of his having a 911E.

You have a nice car there and I wish you luck in your sale. It is a good comparison to match it up with my silver '73E. But if you're successful in getting your price, I'm going to seriously need to up the insured value of my car!

Count me a member in that "bought it under $10, now have over $20 into it" club. But my car definitely rocks. LONG LIVE THE "E"!

    I hear ya.

Now, all I have to do is get mine. Patience is becoming a short commodity here in Chicago. The weather is warm, the lawn is growing, and I don't have my car yet.
