    What kinda Jack to USE?

    Fellows:

I have a toolkit that I'm not using (strictly for show), and I'm getting a jack that I'm also not going to use (again, for show).

But if I am going to get a jack to USE, what should I get? I have heard two things a number of times. "Get a scissors jack from NAPA" and "Grab one of those lightweight 944 Jacks."

Is this the 944 jack that they are talking about? And does it work as well or better than the NAPA one?

    Comments are appreciated.

Larry, it (the jack in your pic) looks to me to be very similar in design to the NAPA scissors jack.

that looks like the 944 jack

but I weighed one and wasn't really any lighter than the stock jact -- safer, yes.

I like the speed wrench style operator. I have a scissors and it works a little different, but it works. When I reaplace the longs, I might be able to trust the stock jack post. But, all in all, the scissors IS safer. Why jack the whole side up when you can do a corner. Or, maybe that's bad to flex the car?

Frankly, I'm not very reliable -- and I'd add too much weight up front.

How do you use one of those 944 style jacks on an early 911?

I don't understand what would hold it to the car since it isn't made to fit the square jack insert.
