You've probably seen this before (Rick Cabell's photo?), note the engine sheet metal in amber.

Hot out of the mold and ready to be fitted to my short stroke 2.5 liter motor. These shots are pre production and dam spot on. There will be a few minor tweeks, but I think these are way cool and fit my outlaw motiff perfectly. Thanks to the "D" man and crew for prompt delivery, as I was in need of immediate porsche gratification this weekend!!!

Jim, just what I need for the '68. I expect to run as much amber as I can get Damon to make on this weight-less car.
Do you think he can make these pieces?!

There are 8 different people that made the amber for that motor according to the engine owner at the time. It is so labor intensive, and thin amber fiberglass just doesn't hold up to the stress that we all put on our R gruppe cars!! Those fans are lucky to last one race without breaking. Given time and money anything is possible - I just doubt that many people are ready, willing and able to spend " engine rebuild" type money on all the trick prototype, lucky go fast &^%$# parts. Hats off to the few guys in this country that have found a niche market making this stuff.
Fragile? Of course! The fan is probably the most expensive and least durable part on that 8 cyl.
It never really surprises me how much money people will spend on accessories, especially light accessories. Carbon fiber doors, fenders, hoods, ducktails, roof clips...
Still, I'll be using natural composite smaller parts on my 2.0...I like the look. I'm thinking that an early air cleaner assembly might be worth trying.
