Oh yeh --- forgot to mention: If it's faded you will HAVE to remove paint to restore the surface. So you need a polish such as body scrub.

What i have done so far:
step1: wash car
step 2: 3M Imperial hand glaze
srep 3: Maquiars polish
step 4: Mequairs wax
so far I have repeated step 3 and 4 perhaps 3 times and with each polish/wax the car gets a little shinier .
I havent gotten the new car look but it is a vast improvement since my paint was so DULL and oxidized. The secret step is lots of elbow grease.
BTW couldnt find Blitz in the local Kragen or Pep boys.
Thanks all for your help.....now on to do the chrome and wheels.
Hey, You learned that trick from me!
Do yourself a favor and buy a nice "orbital" buffer. This is one that will do the least damage should you handle it incorrectly. Do not buy or attempt to use a regular buffer without some first hand experience. Paint "burn though" is a guarantee.Originally posted by scargo70

Orbitals are nice as they don't get the paint hot and are less likely to cause a "burn". Most of the products from 3M can be used with one.
I think you need to stick to one process before repeating yourself again and again. The wax is just something that you are removing when you polish the car. Using the glaze first is not in the correct order either.
Try some Finesse It or other light duty cleaner/compounds from 3M and your local auto paint supply house. Once you get it to shine with this then you can try the wax or glaze.
Good luck,
Tom

Hi guys, what do you think of Zymol?
I've used their stuff before and been very happy with it.
However I haven't tried anything else to compare.

I've used Zymol...It's good stuff, but I didn't find it to be any better than Blitz, Harley, Yellow Wax, or Meguire's pure Carnuba,
which all performed about the same. In other words, Zymol, IMHO, is a small but good steak sold with LOTS of sizzzle...

Zymol sure does smell nice.

What order would you recommend?Originally posted by sithot

Wash with acar wash (not a dish wash detergent or a soap).. Test surface with your hand. If it has any small bumps (is not as "smooth as glass"), use a clay bar with meguairs quick detail, then wash again.
Next, dry it and use Meguairs Gold class cleaner.
Then, if it is a dark color use the Meguairs polish in the maroon bottle.
next use Meguairs Gold Class wax.
Dirve it and park in a carport when not driving. Wax will last ~ a year.
Or use their NXT series, or the 3M stuff, or P21s....
