Did you get your ticks yet Curt, or will we be getting them at the venue?

Be sure and stop by Frank Beck's big Semi, and say hello to the VARA contingent
VARA will be represented in Daytona by:
Frank Beck - 914/6 #59 Orange
Brian O'Shaughnessey - 911 #555 Bianchi Green
Mark Scott - 911 #267 Red,White, & black
Terry Solomon - 914/6 #unk (black and blue car)
Bill Modisette - 911 #unk (black car)
Edie Arrowsmith - 914/6 #unk (bright blue car)**
**Arrowsmith owns 2 914/6s...the second car is Orange, and may be there...driven by none other than Milt Minter (although I don't know for a fact he'll be at Daytona - Milt's been driving this car at VARA events all season so far)
Daytona is going to be huge and lots of fun - if you manage to see these guys, stop and say hello, wish them well...Tell 'em Thom Kuby sent ya!!! They all know me. Cheer our fellow left-coasters on.
At any rate - enjoy the event: really wish I was going myself...take lots of pictures eh?
cheers
Thom Kuby
I'm buying the tickets there. I don't think there is any discount for pre-purchase and as big as this is going to be, there is no way they'll sell out.
Curt,
I checked out your grey wolf pictures. Looks great. Are you driving it to Daytona? If so, I would like to get together with you to take a template of where to cut the chrome grills to make 'through the grill' fogs. Right now I have cut a pair of reproduction black plastic 73 grills, but I have a pair of chromes I want to cut and re-chrome to be authentic.
I will have the 73 S sportomatic in the "gang of 40" line up of 911's to commenorate the 40th anniversary. Both my son and I will wearing early 911S registry T shirts. My cell is 513 325 8071. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hey guys, my tickets finally arrived in the mail yesterday, after ordering about 4 weeks ago. I started getting nervous and called last week. They had not even been printed yet but I was told that if they could not be mailed in time they would be available at will-call. And it is general admission covering 3 days.
As for viewing areas, it is not the greatest spectator track for road racing. But outside the International Horseshoe usually has a crowd and then there is a little grandstand near the infield kink that is not bad. A neat place to be is in the big stands at the fence right around start finish, before the braking zone, give a real sense of speed with the GTP era cars. Long walk from the infield though, the place is huge!

Guys that are going,
My cars will be located on the "Truck Pad" outside the garages with the other vintage cars. Is anyone else here set to be in the same part of the paddock? I look foward to meeting many of you in person. Should be unreal!! My cell is (631)786 6511 Thanks.
Best,
Don
Daytona is best seen on a bike. I've been all around the track on a motorcycle and I would suggest that anyone having a moped or scooter take it. There is a lot of walking to be done otherwise.
The tunnel entrance makes for easy ingress/egress for spectators in/on vehicles.
Like racemor notes, the infield near the International Horseshoe is good viewing but to get a real feel for speed you need to get to one of the ends of the track where the banking is located.
To get the hell scared out of you go to stands near the start finish line or thereabouts and check out the speeds through there. They don't generally like you hanging near the fence during a live event but during practice just about anything goes (or it used to).
Even sitting on the front row in this area will blow you away with respect to the speeds that are reached. Excuse my repetition of this tidbit, but I've seen 185+ mph radar gun readings from bikes before braking for the infield area.

Got my alignment and wheel balancing done today! Car has never been so smoooooth!
New gear oil and a good polish and glaze to be done before w-e is over. Cant wait to go! Hate to go through all this work to park the cars in spectator parking, but I imagine that it will be a mini Porsche show in itself.
