Remains of the RS homologation process

I have taken the door panels and plastic sheet off the RS to restore them and noticed the screws in the door from the lightweight plastic door handles used for homologation. A set in each door.

I thought it was kind of interesting. Of course my wife thinks I need to get a life.

BTW, does anyone have an NOS set of right and left white plastic vapor barrier they would like to sell me?

I need to get a life too, because I find this interesting! Actually, those photos provide a great reference for properly locating retrofitted RS pulls. -- Curt

    Jared,

I must have missed that in my internet search. I don't think that is the OEM type though. Keep searching......

    Jared......what a hooot !!

Brian, I don't think they were ever available as a part. I go to the hardware store and get some poly. the same mil spec and trace out a new one. If they are virgin when I get to them, then I remove them carefully and reuse them.

The door vapor panels are available as a spare part( at least 10 months the last time I bought a set). These were for a late 70's 911....might not be correct fro your RS, but it is a factory part and they do work great. When I get to work on monday I will post the POrsche part #'s and prices.

    Good luck with the rs.

    Plastic

Brian, I bought mine from Stoddard's. Ridiculously expensive, however.

Rick I was hoping to find the original type that has 2 layers along the bottom edge but I can reuse the ones I have. They are greasy and somewhat tattered but I can clean and tape them back together where torn.

I used part #901.531.089.00 for the left side and 901.531.090.00 for the right side. Pelican said they were NLA and they don't show up on Stoddards parts search page. Stacy, I'm sure they were expensive, I will give Stoddards a call to see if they have them by chance. Thanks guys.

Jim is on the case. He is a parts manager at a Porsche dealership and will get us the answer.

I look forward to seeing just how spendy these plastic water barriers are too. I need two sets. I just might use some of the clear plastic shelf protector that I found at a craft supplies shop. The stuff is not standard poly, it's very clear and very tough and flexible and.....cheeep! "R" car worthy, that's for sure.
