Thread: How Many Decals?

    How Many Decals?

I want to make sure that my car has all of the requisite decals on it when it comes, but I'm not sure that I know of all of them. Can you guys help me out here?

    1. Decals on the lock plate at the front of the engine compartment.
    2. Decal on the fan shroud.
    3. Shell Oil Decal on the air cleaner.
    4. Weltmeister decal on the right rear window.
    5. Decal on the lock plate at the front of the trunk.

    Am I missing any?

There are actually 2 different decals that were on the right rear 1/4 window for 1973. Many have the silver and black Interserrie sticker, but my E was a very early car off the line and seems to have had the Weltmeister sticker from '72. There was very little left when I bought the car, but definitely some black and gold decal flakes when I scraped it clean. I don't know when the transition was made, maybe someone else can help with that.

    Larry,

On a '73 there is one ‘vacancy’ on the front of the engine lock plate… (my car’s at home) I think it’s the second from the left that’s left blank.

On the window decal… It all depends on the build date on your car. If it’s before March it’s the ’69,’70,’71 “World” decal … If it’s March and after it’s the ’72 CanAm/Interseries “Silver” decal…

You can check our boutique page for the different decal applications.

What decal are you referring to on the trunk front lock plate? Do you mean the VIN plate?

If you want to get anal and your car is a CA delivery, I have a factory CA emissions decal on the left quarter window (coupe). Probably difficult to replicate - and not important.

Larry, I assume you have the engine compartment tray decals lined up?

Paul: I don't have the decals "lined up" I have discussed this with Mike McGrath from the outset, and he knows that they are needed. I don't know if he has them in hand at this point or not. I seem to remember that Pelican has decals for sale. Are there other sources?

Chuck and Racemor: I know that the window decal that is correct for my car is the Weltmeister decal from 72. My car's birthdate is September, 72 (being the 73rd 73 E Targa off the line) and Mike knows that he can buy it from the boutique shop at this registry.

You know, I am so ignorant on these cars - I am still embarrassed to admit I have never driven one, and have only seen a couple up close. Is that the VIN plate on the trunk lock plate? Here is the picture showing the front of the trunk before Mike stripped it.

Chuck, if you could send me a pic of your engine compartment lock plate, I would sure be appreciative.

    Paul:

THANKS, can you name them for me from left to right? I know that your car is a 72, and mine is a 73, but it will give me some guidance as to what I am looking at.
