Thread: Preparing my 67 for Monterey..sad story

  1. #11
    Hi shawn
I ended up selling it to someone who was introduced to me by a close friend of mine.

Will you be in the rguppe meet in Monterey?

I may be there as well.

taking another shot at driving the coast...

Well, Monterey is over with. I meet some great people and missed a bunch more as I had to start my run to Phoenix early Saturday Morning.

Now, I need to get the 67 down to America as well.

Can anyone recommend a Seattle area shop to install a new set of rear torsion bars and properly adjust the cars suspension?

Once the suspension issues are sorted, I will then drive the car to Monterey to complete the first leg of the trip I missed out on last month. The potential shipping fees (plus the boat load of early car parts) and my current air mile wealth actually make this trip the most cost effective method of transport. Hey, no argument from me!

On the way down, hopefully, I will have a chance to meet all the guys I missed in Monterey.

    All the best, Shawn.

Shawn, if you don't mind spending some real money, Greg Fordahl is one of the best Porsche chassis guys in the country:

    Bellevue, WA 98005
    Attn: Greg Fordahl

I had my car worked on here, they are also a great shop for early cars- Chris Powell worked with the Bayside Motorsport IMSA team:

I haven't worked with these guys, but I've heard good things about them:

One more thing- you might want to talk with Randy Wells before you come down- Randy knows everyone in the Seattle 911 game, would be able to direct you better than me. I think he's on this board, but is also on Pelican, and is an R-Gruppester.

    Shawn,

John Walker is the man but he doesn't do alignment work. All suggestions thusfar are solid.

BTW, for alignment work JW recommends Truline in South Seattle. They did my '87 and I was very impressed by them.

Let us know when your coming through town as us local guys are always looking for any excuse to get together....

Good point, they did my car, too-

While we're listing all the great shops, here's another that does old Porsche work:

Dave? Has the moss left your back yet? Hope to see you back in the NW one of these days...

Paul, unfortunately, its mold here-too hot for moss. We're starting to get a collection of cool early cars here, though- not least the collection of Peter Kitchak (the 911R, 911ST & 2.9 liter racecars that were seen at the Moorespeed tent at Rennsport. I'm going there tomorrow, will bring camera).

Maybe this summer- when are you guys planning on gathering again?

    thanks for the help guy's...

I will get it sorted out one way or another. Alignment is best left to the pros...rather than a weekend wrench spinner like me.

You guy's are the best. Shawn.
