    Repair of Windshield Crack

Does anyone on this board have experience with the repair of a windshield that has a stone crack (smaller than a dime.)

Has anyone had experience with having this done by any of the 'professionals'? Was the repair successful? Has it prevented the crack from spreading further?

Has anyone used one a glass repair kits to do the job themselves? Results?

    Thanks, Bob S.

    Hello Bob,
    I hope it's not the 67S !
Anyway, in about every area there are windshield doctors that repair those mishaps. It's kind of a art. Some one that knows what they are doing can do a job where you can see almost nothing. Depends on the type of crack.

    Winshield Crack

Hi Rick - No, thankfully it's not the '67S! The windhield in my S2000 was hit last week, the '66 Vette has one, and my 186,000+ mile Mustang has several. A common problem in NC that most insurance companies won't cover.

Typical cost is under $50 here in CA and it is covered by many ins because it's cheaper for them. Two things: The fresher, the better. Old chips don't repair as well and if it is in the driver's field of view, i.e., if the windshield wiper passes over it, they won't fix it. Some liability due to proported distorted vision. Bunk.
