    Hershey 2004

Finally got my few pictures together. . . .

Took the long drive from Chicago to Hershey PA on Friday. Had a slight (45 min each way) detour to pick up my nephew in Ft Wayne, and then we tried to catch up with some PelicanHeads in Ohio. But they were a bit early for us. Got to Hershey right on time, about 6:15. It was a bit breezy but pretty nice. Had a beer and dinner at the Hershey Lodge with about 20 others from the Pelican BBS. Good company.

The next morning was really great. You need to remember that this was my first Porsche event of this size, and my first Porsche swap meet, so I was a bit awed by the number and types of cars. On the way to the grounds, we came across a bunch of 924/944/968's lined up for a parade into town. Really looked great, though they certainly weren't 911's.

The weather was fantastic. It was in the 70's all day, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. You could tell by the bright sunburn on the top of my head. It was the first year out of 3 that it hadn't rained. There were really 4 sections to the grounds.

Looking at my pictures, I really didn't put together a travelogue like I might have wanted to, but there were a lot of nice cars there. There seemed to be more 356's than early cars. Here are some pix of the 356's I saw.

There was a really pretty 356 in a metallic seafoam green. They said that it was an original color, but you couldn't prove it by me. There were also some RGruppe 356's. One had a 3.0L engine shoehorned into the back. Really tight. The fan shroud was within a 1/4" of the back lockplate. Unfortunately didn't get a pic of that. Hindsight.

    More 356's. A nice pair!!

I was surprised that there weren't more early 911's there, and there seemed to be a number of original T's a few E's and some S's. There were even a few RS's that really looked Great!!

This one is owned by a Frenchman that said that the car was signal green in color. I knew it wasn't one that I had seen before, but it looked really clean.

Here's another RS that came over from England. RHD. Had a chance to visit with the owner. Nick and Carol Dunlop. He has posted on this BBS, but I don't know his handle. The VIN is 9113600358 for those who are interested. I really like the rear tag.
