Targa Bar Color

I just bought a blue 71S Targa. Unfortunately the previous owner during the repaint painted the bar blue also. So my question what is the correct color for targa bar I have seen black and silver for the 71 Targa? Also what is your recommendation for repaintinf or removing the blue paint on the bar?? Thanks in advance

1971 Targas have brushed stainless steel, not black. Good luck with it... the previous owner probably sanded the bar to get the paint to adhere. After removing the paint with a decent paint remover, you may be able to wet sand out the scratches with 600 paper. I had a 1967 911 that someone sanded the window chrome trim (chrome plated brass on that car) and painted it black. After removing the paint, it never looked right.

I believe that ALL 71 Targas have stainless bars.
