    Thumbs up Greetings

Hi all, I was looking for some info and came across your site. There is a lot of good info in here. Anyway, I don't have an "S", but I do have a '73 911E we just finished restoring for the track. We need to fix some alignment/suspension issues but the engine feels good.

Anyway, nice to meet you all and here's a pic.

    Wow! That's a nice-looking car.

    What's she weigh?

I'm not 100% sure. I should have checked it last weekend at the track, but didn't. I figure around 2500lbs wet. The doors and rear and front lids are fiberglass and it is pretty stripped down.
It's the stock "E" engine, although we went with carbs instead of the mechanically timed injectors. Not bad for a rusted out salvage title though. I have some restoration pics around... I'll see if I can find 'em. Thanks for the look!

I'd be very surprised if you were much over 2300 lbs. wet with those specs. You have race seats in it and a stripped interior, it appears? My '73E with a heavier 3.4 motor and a 70 lb. roll cage weighs 2400#, and it still has the steel doors and hood on it, and a working sunroof.

Does she have a sister? Positively beautiful. Welcome.

Weight is a funny thing. My car has every panel except the roof made from fiberglass. I have an aluminum plate replacing the back seat buckets. I have a magnesium tranny, race seats, RSA door panels, lexan everywhere except the windshield and the roll-ups in the doors. I have R-style rear lights, a lightweight battery, aluminum front crossmember and trailing arms.

And my car weighs about a hundred pounds more than stock.

(Full cage, big brakes, big wheels and tires, and beefed up air conditioning are most of the explanation. But the 1800 pound guys still amaze me.)

You're probably right on the weight. I looked up the stock weight at the 911E register and they had it around 2300 and change. It was under 2400 anyway.

If I had checked it out on the weekend I could have told you what the weight at each tire was... but I was busy figuring out what needs fixing on the suspension.

    Jack,

Consider it this way... you're carrying on the Porsche tradition of having "sanctioned" dead weight added (A/C in your case) for the track - 'cause Pcars were so much better than the rest of the field.

    They still kicked heiney!

    A Beaut!!

Have to admit that when I first looked at the picture, it looked so pristine, that I thought it might be a plastic model set out on an outdoor scene. Looks really pretty. Welcome to the group (or should I say Gruppe!)

Well, the hood is off center a bit and the paint is not perfect, especially in the grooves. It has its flaws up close, but once we get the suspension tuned, it'll be a great track car. Perhaps a vintage racer in the future... I'll have to see what I'm allowed to do to it and still qualify.

Thanks for the comments! I'm pretty excited as it is my first Porsche.
