    Wiring Opinions

I need all of your opinions regarding re-wiring. Now that my car just had its 36th birthday, I continue to have intermittent electrical problems. Yesterday's was the whole car dying while going down the street, no electrical at all.

The question is, should I continue to address each electrical issue as they come up, or should I explore a full re-wire. If I re-wire, any suggestions as how to proceed? Thanks.

A full re-wire is an expensive and time consuming proposition. Unless you have had an electrical fire, you (or your wrench) should be able to track down the isolated incidents and take care of them.

When I first purchased my car, I had about 15 items I had to track down. 2 took professional assistance. After correcting each one, I have had nary a problem since.

Just to add my $.02; electrical malfunctions are often a result of collision damage and/or body repair and may not show up right away. If you know the history of the car, look for pinched or otherwise damaged harness damage in those locations.

Common ground connections also have a way of acting up due to corrosion and age.

    WIRE HARNESS

I just had the entire stock wiring harness removed from my car ( 1970 911 ST replica). Including the tunnel harness, these cars use alot of wires. If you're going to replace or modify yours - drop me a line - as I can supply you with sections or send you the whole thing. Good luck. heimbachracing@earthlink.net

Thank you all for your input. I'm first going to clean the common grounds to see if that helps. Then I'll I have to think about where to from there.
