Thread: rebuild 901 vs. 915 conversion

  1. #21
OK, now I am confused agian ....

Hayden & Sherwood, maybe you guys can enlighten me. I have a later model car (a 1973.5 year) and I am trying to go backwards -- to put a 911 type tranny froma 1970-71 into my '73 (I like th shift pattern).

I have both the longer 901 shift tube and the existing (shorter) 915 shift tube.

Which one should I use when I install the 911/01 tranny?

    THANKS!

    Randy,

In every case, the best choice is the tube that is correct for the transmission you are installing. The tube changes with the transmission - not the chassis.

Use the longer 901 tube for the 901 / 911 transmission in the 73.5 chassis, if you use the 915 tube your coupler will make insufficient engagement in the end of the tube.

    Regards
