    my P car honeymoon is not over BUT.....

    would like your advice re my 70 T...after having some time to speak w/ a well respected shop it seems like my clutch, after just getting it adjusted ,now has no more adjustment(I brought it in for adjstment as first and reverse were diff to engage) and so far the symptoms are gone and it shifts fine. He said it just meant clutch was worn and at 116k showing its age, he also thought my oil pressure was kinda lo, 10 ish at idle and about 10 lbs every 1000 rpm.......besides having typical guide wear/smoke issues.....am I in a danger zone re the health of my engine?.....can it run like this for another 10k?...we spoke about 20w oil for summer......what should I do to keep her healthy until I dig into my pockets. When I bought car comp was @ 145-150 across the board..she pulls fine and eats about 1 qt every 700 ish miles.....still happy but concerned......

    20W oil for the SUMMER??? Back when I ran 30W year round, as stated in my owner's manual, according to average temps here, I would have to wonder about SAE 20 in a P car motor during the summer. Just HOW hot does it get in N.Y.? Maybe your summers are below freezing??? 1 qt. per 700 miles is well within new engine specs on a '70 T. The clutch? I had a '70 911T...perhaps not the clutch itself, but IMHO, the way Porsche designed the operating system OF the clutch back then wasn't the best....suggest you do some more research. Not just your problems, but on how "respected" this shop really is. I'm sorry, but 20 W oil suggested for SUMMER use?? D-OH!

    How about 20w-50 for the summer. I wouldn't run straight 20 in the winter! As far as the clutch goes and adjustments, did you adjust the cable at the pedal too? or just at the release fork. Make sure that you check both ends! Good luck

    PWD/JohnnyS....I meant to say 20w-50 for summer!, sorry for misleading you; ....and yes pedal was adjusted too!....have driven car 2x since adjusted, totalling @60 miles..feels better w/ no grunching.
