    RS #1190 on German eBay

    Guys,

Here is an interesting car. The ad says #119, but it is really #1190. Not much detailed info. in the listing, but it says it is a one owner, matching #'s car with 96,000 kilometers with the original service manual. Plus there is only one mediocre photo.

It maybe a one owner car. The car was originally delivered in Belgium and the listing says the car is in Meise, Belgium. The RS book states production of April '73, but the listing says 5/11/73. The only way the actual day would be known was if the seller had the original production form or maybe an old Kardex that gave that information. I contacted the owner about more photos, but I still haven't received them. I'll post them if I get them.

    Production Dates

Brian, I have the Kardex on mine (#1248) with a 'birth date/production completion date' of 4/16/73. If that helps as reference...

    $$$$

The starting bid is 100,000 Euro. At today's rate, that is $122,500 USD. No one has taken the bait yet.

Pretty car, but a lot of change!!

Datum der Erstzulassung means date of first registration, so if the car was completed in April, it is possible that it took 3 weeks for the sale and registration to go through.

    Larry,

I think the large starting bid is just bait don't you? I'm sure the seller's phone has been ringing quite a lot this last week. Maybe even someone from here is calling.

    Stacy,

Do you have a relatively recent Certificate of Authenticity? I didn't think those had the day of the month listed like the production form does.

    Neil,

That makes sense if it means registered by the new owner. Mine was produced Jan. 16, '73 and registered on March 23, '73.

Brian, my COA is from previous owner, and looks to be about 5 years old. From my experience with these things, some have LOTS of info RE: the car, and some very little, I guess it depends on who is translating, who is working, how much info is easily available etc. Don't get me started on Cardex's....

By the way, did everything work out with Walt at CE?

Hey we have one bidder at 100,000 Euros. I would be a little nervous if I was a seller of this car and the only bidder had 5 feedback points, all for buying a few trading cards.

    Stacy,

I will post a follow up in the thread I started last week. I have some good news though.

My RS #1170 has a birth date / delivery date of May 1, 1973from the recently received COA. Seems to conflict with Stacy's 1248 with an April build date. I wonder how accurate the Certificate of Authenticities are? Dr. Konradsheins book says 04/73 for mine and 05/73 for Stacy's. 1190 shows 04/73.

From the photo it is tough to tell what the condition of 1190 is.

Most likely a shill bidder...the bidder is a "not registered member".
