    Latest forum news

Things look okay for now thanks to Zeonhost our host provider, but we'll be upgrading to the latest bulletin board version today sometime. Not sure the extent of data loss, but I recommend everyone change their password at their earliest convenience to prevent any personal data loss and computer corruption issues. You might even change it again once the latest version is up and running (Ver3.0 +). The version number is on the bottom of each forum page.

To change your password, click on "user cp" (menu bar at top of page), then select "edit password".
In addition, do not open up any exe files "sent" by the Early 911S Registry. It's not us sending them.

    Thanks,
    Sherwood

Sherwood, I'm writing this at 10:05 A.M., PDT, 28 June 2004. Is this the permanent format? You're suggesting I change my password now? Maybe a clarification post, telling us when to do this? Thanks again for all your hard work. Paul

    Paul,
Yes, this is the latest version of vBulletin, but I still need to work on this a little. To be safe, go ahead and change your password. Click on "User CP" (first link in menu bar above), then choose "edit password" (write it down).

Sherwood, will the search functions be working or is that info lost?

Thanks Sherwood. As you know, I'm pretty damned computer illiterate...but password now changed...I hope.

The database was restored from the last backup from 6/20. Unfortunately, due to the hack, data entered since then until yesterday was lost.

Is everyone now just a registered user in the avitar area? Before the hack, I was a "Paid up Registry Member." I wanted to promote the fact that I don't come here for a free ride and kind of a reminder to new members that joining the Registry helps support the BBS. will I be able to change my status line in the future?

Hell Milt, Don't worry about it. I mean, I'm sure Chuck knows who paid.

I dont think Chuck can cross-reference usernames here with paid Registry members as there is no easy way I can access that information (yes, there are built in security features that prevent me from doing that). One would have to cross-check email addresses with those listed on our member list. I don't Chuck or any board member would be too keen on that process.

Be that as it may, it would be great if forum users supported the Registry. Our website presence, this forum (and recent repairs) as well as the quarterly Esses are supported by member dues, a few adv. dollars and some margin from Registry boutique sales. That's it.

Zeke (Milt), Thanks for the push.

    Much appreciated,
    Sherwood
