Cool My New Vs Old VIN Plate

    Guys,
Bought the plate from Dave Aase on EBay last year, and finally found someone to stamp it (Reitmayer in Oberhacking Germany). Looks very close but the number 3 is a little off from the original. Still looks a hell of a lot better than the old one eh.....

PS Who was the genius who thought they could pull off the plate with the crowbar side of a hammer?! Not me or my restoration guys....

That is very nice! It even is stamped 'Porsche KG' instead of 'Porsche AG', so this is truely a NOS piece.

By the way, anyone know if Aase has any more plates? The guys at Roitmayer were so impressed that they wanted to know where they could get a few. One guy who was there having his car worked on has a 1974 Euro Carrera. His car is beautiful but his VIN plate was a little roughed up. He would love to get one too.

    Garth,

By chance is the Carrera 2,7 a signal yellow car with a ducktail? If so, it belongs to my friend Juergen and I can get the plate for him.

Dave Aase just gave me a ring and he is going be in Germany until 14th or 15th. Call him after he returns and he can get you hooked up.

    VIN plate stamping

I was able to get my new VIN plate stamped with my VIN by International Mercantile located in Del Mar, CA. 1-800-356-0012 (US), international (1-760-438-2205), or email internationalmercantile@hotmail.com. They did a good job and while the numbers are not EXACTLY like the original, they are very close.
