    Restoring front fiberboard panel

    Guys,
Is there a thread I missed or are there any ideas on how to repaint/restore the black fiberboard cover that fits in the luggage bay ahead of the wiper motor and fresh air blower? The one that attaches with four 6mm x 1 bolts.

I have an extra one and thought that I might buff it up a bit. But before I head off to Home Depot to buy a gallon of black latex and a broom, I thought that I might see if perchance a better approach exists.

If it's in good shape try using Marhide Satin Black vinyl spray...

If it's rough try Krylon Semi-Flat Black spray

    Hope this helps,

    Chuck,

Thanks for the reply. My S engine components are off to Engine Builder Supply today so I need to have something to do til the stuff returns.

    Hey,

There's always the 'battery box and cable clean and rehab'...

The 'take out your tail light assemblies, take all the rocks out, and clean the contacts'

And, the the ever popular, '4 corner wheel well/suspension clean'...

... I'll tell'ya how to spend your free time bud...

Think'n about it, you've probably got to those a long time ago...

Talk to us... we'll find more...

    Cheers,

    Chuck,
As my dear departed Grandmother used to say: "No truer words were ever spoken through false teeth". God rest her wonderful soul.
Actually, I plan to take the front fenders, hood and steel spoiler from the donor car, strip off the paint and then teach myself how to spray paint. That way, I can store and save the original front end on the T car and never have to worry about rock chips or an unsightly bra.
However, I am put in mind of a guy by the name of Pat Ertel who used to write a column a long time ago in the 356 Registry. He wrote a series of articles in the Registry covering his efforts painting his 356 in the garage at his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio, also home of Antioch College- where it is always 1967.
Somewhere in the project he came in an announced to his significant other: "That's the last time I start something I know nothing about".. At which point, Miz Lorrie is reputed to have said: "Does this mean that our sex life is over??"

Could you provide pics? I'd like to see how the cover you have differs from other years. Thanks.
