    Update...

Long time coming, too much time actually driving the thing.

I pulled off the knee pad (a job that has now become second nature while checking out older cars) and discovered that... the number has been cut out.

    Facts:

    - it is an S
    - Engine is an S
    - Engine number and VIN 'off by one digit' according to Porsche

    So...

I have clean Canadian and German titles, both of which state it is a 1969 911S. But I am all out of guesses at this point. Is it a fake? I don't think so. Stolen and re-numbered? Could be. Does it go like stink?

Is it for sale? Isn't everything?

Holy crap; I am so sorry to hear this. What do you do now? Search to see if it is stolen? Then what? The thing about knowing everything you now do makes this car a definite (albeit very sexy) albatross. Best of luck with the continuing saga.

    OUCH!!, Sorry to hear that.

Good luck on the next step of your search, and meanwhile drive the ·$%@#~ out of it.

Thanks for the (cough) sympathy I like the above description... my zwei liter Mechanischeeinspritz Albatros. Life could be worse.

If it weren't for the damn flares

I feel the same way about the flares on my '69S. I want to punt them, but don't have the guts...
