    left and right flag mirrors

Spotted at Le Mans Classic last week a pair of matching flag mirrors on a 73RS. I wasn't sure these were ever available but......

I'm sure more experienced RS gurus will chime in but I'm pretty sure that Porsche only ever offered a lefthand mirror in this style for '72/'73.

Aftermarket stainless steel mirrors in this style (& in 2 different sizes) for both lefthand & righthand fitment are available from a number of sources such as Performance Products/Automotion.

I've not seen them close-up but I've heard that the quality is not up to the original standard.

Beware the quality on the Performance R-Hand flag mirrors. They were very sub-standard. I sent mine back the next day.

Not original but usefull. I lucked out and was able to get a good one from Performance to use on my RS. The holes were already drilled for a goofy european race mirror.

    Best,

I think BMW used a very similar mirror - not sure on what years. The stem is curved not straight.

    Hey Nick

    That car looks interesting.

How about some more pictures? Do you know the chassis number?

    Regards from the USA.

Here is a picture of the BMW mirror. It is excellent quality, easily equal to the original Porsche. If you look closely you can spot the difference, but it looks appropriate to the car--like Porsche could have just as easily chosen to use this mirror.

    Hi Dick

Sorry but I don't have any more details on the car, it was just one of many 2.0s, 2.7 RSs, 2.8 RSRs, 3.0 RSs and 3.0 RSRs racing at the week end
