How do I tell E or S cams?

    Guys,
I found a guy with a box of cams. They appear to be new. Problem is, no one seems to know what cams we're looking at. They have numbers on the side that seem to correspond to the part number in the parts book except that the last two digits don't match. Can I determine cam type by these numbers on the side. between the lobes? If not, where do I look? If I wanted E or S cams to put in the mfi 2.7 I am building based on my 73 2.4 mfi T, what numbers should I be looking for? Where should I look?
    Thanks for the help

    Thumbs up

    Thanks Nick !

Between the casting #'s and anything else that might be stamped on those cams... NOTHING tells you what they are.

    S cams

    Hello John,

Did you buy the whole box of cams? Or does your guy have more S cams for sale?

I am looking for a pair of S cams.

    Thanks,

and I need a single right hand MFI S cam for a customer who ran his engine for over 200 miles with a broken tappet adjuster.

    Guys,

I am still trying to figure out what I am looking at. If I understand the previous post, the only way to tell is by the cam lift. If that is the case, I need to find a print out of all the different dimensions so I can tell the E's from the S's from the CIS cams. So I guess the best thing to do is to inventory the whole lot and figure out what's what.
When I get a chance, I will let you know what I find.
    John
