    original radios

Who is the authority on radio originality? I want to install a corrrect radio in a 73 and need serial number info and photo of original radio in dash. I have a Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo, serial number starting with "D". The knobs are the same as my 356 knobs. Before I install it, I'd like to know if it is correct for the car. Thank you in advance for any info.

    robo,

Unworthily it's not that easy (is it ever?)

There was about 5 different radio options for '73 (mostly dealer installed)

Mine is AM/FM/Stereo/Cassette/and Tape Recorder (and in storage because it works like crap)

There's a great 'vintage German car radio' sales site around that I can't find for my life right now.

good luckfinding a US version, it seems easy to find a good german one though. If you do find an extra one let JCR know so he can quit coveting mine.

Yes, still looking for a US Frankfurt - and getting desperate. BUT... I did resist the temptation to swap my Becker with jonnysocko's Frankie while he was in the porta-john at Pinckney.

Chuck, very cool radio... isn't that the ultra rare karaoke option?

Paul, you have the definitive reference pic... haven't found any better.

356robo, the earlier links to radio authorities are the best out there. Additionally, JCR has indentified the paramount radio unit for any 73 car. He has been searching for one for, at least, two years that I know of.

Poor fellow is forced to use a Mr. Microphone. I have heard that he does drive and say..."Hey good lookin', be back to pick you up later!" Sad deterioration of a good man. He just wants a radio.

Try searching for the even more rare, factory radio delete panel. That will keep you up late at night crawling through ebay ads and typing goofy sleepy stuff on the registy board..........
