    Is this still of interest?
    It is kinda hard without any further background knowledge, but as much as I could decipher it reads:

    "X Getriebeschaden konische(?) Schrauben lose! Siehe VB 37478
    Bei Anfrage Kunden entwarnen, dass KD-44898 neues Getriebe ist!!
    Fuer 62140.741/2A kommt GA (Getriebeaustausch) und wird nach Rep(aratur) von Sonauto
    als Austauschgetriebe verwendet. Sonauto hat gegen Rueckgabe Scheckheft 25598
    von KD-44898 Heft no. 25785 am 04.03.63 erhalten."

    "x Gearbox failure. Conical(?) screws loose! See VB 37478
    On request reassure customer that KD-44898 is a new gearbox!!
    62140.741/2A will receive a replacement and [it] will be used by Sonauto as replacement gb after repair.
    In exchange of "Scheckheft" (service check book?) 25598 of KD-44898 Sonauto has received book no. 25784 on 4.3.63"

    As much as I understand, this 356 was originally equipped with gb 62140. After the damage it has been replaced with KD-44898.
    Sonauto kept 62140 to be used as an exchange gb after repair.
    I am not a 356 specialist but as much I could read from the parts catalogues the given serials are for 2 different gb types:
    62140 = 1962/63 type 741/A or maybe 2A
    44898 = 1960/61 type 644

    I wonder why Porsche would do this...

    25598 and 25784 IMHO do not depict gearboxes but are the respective numbers of the service check books...

    The stamp could read "Teileaustausch.... ausgewechselt" = "parts exchange.... exchanged".

    "VW Mexico bel." in the first line of the refund history most probably means "stereo VW Mexico illuminated".

    Ahh, I almost missed this:
    what do you make of the lt.AB 740523 above the engine #
    I'd read it as "lt. Abnahmebescheinigung" which means "as stated in the final inspection sheet". Seems like the car was supposed to get engine 740 582 but got installed 740 523 instead.

    Jones, great information there!
    tomster, thanks very much for the translations; I will look at how that fits with what I have.

    Our 69 doesn't list the first owner either. The 65 356 does. Luck of the draw I guess.

    I did notice that I have never posted my Kardex for the two Porsches. Not a lot of the 911S but the 356 seems to offer much more including original owner I think.
