Please don't poke fun of me but I have always wanted one of these. Looking for a primo example that has never been rusted. Any leads greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don-
There was a thread on the Rennlist the other day posted by Todd Serota about a friend of his who had just such a car but with a blown motor. You might be able to pick it up cheap and rebuild the engine. Here's the original post:
Greetings Rennlisters:
A friend of mine has a friend (in So. Cal.) who has a restored '68 912 Targa
with a blown a motor that she wants to sell. I'm told that the owner has
(heaven help her) $45k invested in the car, so I'm presuming for the moment
that it's a full restoration done right (other than the motor :-().
Assuming that's the case, can I please get an estimate of its value as it
sits, with the blown motor? Thanks in advance.

Read my surf novel!
There is one on Ebay now. Dealer in La Habra, CA. Soft window '68. Looks like a nice car but not likely to be a bargain. Item #2486771880
Thanks guys. Keep them coming.

Don,
Just buy my 68S soft window Targa and get it over with! One thing for sure.......... you won't have to put any $$ into it!
My brother bought a 67 912 softy new in Germany in 67 when he was there in the service. Still has it, with about 30K miles! Never been touched! To bad he didn't spend the extra $1000 back then for a 911S. Then he would really have something!!
Hey Rick, Maybe you could speak with your brother for me. Though if he has had it this long I doubt he would sell. Let's talk soon.
Best,
Don
