    911R Auctioned at Pebble beach?

Any news? Sale, no sale? Where do I look for the auction results?

    Jens,

As far as I know, this was not up for auction, but exhibited.

My photos, as well as others, do not show the true condition. LOTS of cracks in OLDER paint. I am sure there is alot of work to do.

    right hand drive RS

The 73 RS, right hand drive had SOLD written across its description paper. I believe 235K was the asking.

They were asking in the 450K range for the RSR

Thanks Ray. That's right, it was for sale and not on the block. Doh! It would be nice to know if it fetched the money. $235k for the RS 342?!

And the 911R...the "R" on the decklid doesn't quite line up...ya'd think for $350k they coulda' lined it up. Did it still have the Ansa 4 pipes out back?

Anyway, just wondering where to look for the various auction results.

Bob, who else would just happen to have a lightweight handle in his pocket?!

    Cool.

Many of the cars at the Blackhawk Collection sale had 'sold' signs on them when I went out to see the collection Saturday afternoon and the 911R did not, so I'm assuming it didn't sell. The 911R was quite rough with one of the worst paint jobs I've ever seen, frayed ignition wires, etc. but very cool regardless. The best part about the paint was that you could see the original 'scarab blue' color poking through underneath. I'd love to see the car restored in it's original color.

I've got some pictures on the RGruppe site:

    cheers,

Great photos Gary, thanks. The car looks almost mortal...well almost! Still a remarkable car, warts and all. It really deserves the scarab blue paint. When was it painted silver?

Did it still have the (shud-d-der) quad pipes?

Ha, the rough paint would just mean that I could drive it without worrying about screwing it up!
Man that car does it for me. From the exposed oil filler neck to the rolled/radiused flares on the fenders it is just RIGHT!
