    Underbody help

Can anyone tell me what a 1970 T originally had on the underbody (i.e. paint, PVC spray, etc)? Was it a 'pebble' finish painted white or body colour? My car has been sprayed at some point with stone guard. Underneath it looks like it may have been white or red... Any thoughts on how to proceed are appreciated.

You can see a bit of the problem in this photo:

Thanks for any help and advice!

Mine is from 03/70 and has a pebble finish everywhere, underneath and in the wheel wells. The floor is perfect with one dime sized piece missing and the layers revealed around the hole appear to be a very thin layer of white against the bare metal, probably no more than a primer or etcher, and black topcoat. The wheel wells had taken a lot more direct rock hits in 35 years so I decided to refinish them recently. You can see the pebble finish here -

The underneath was sprayed body color beginning with the 1973 models. Prior to that, black...

Can anyone confirm that? This car is very original and shows no signs of a black underbody spray (aside from aforementioned black overspray)...

Then maybe yours was built before February 1970. That's the reason I mentioned mine was built in March - I knew they had made a change around in there somewhere.

I dug out the factory supplemental body manual - here are the pertinent pages -

For what it is worth, Wurth Products makes an outstanding spray on undercoating. I really recommend it
