    Dashboard Timers

My name is Curt and I have a sickness ..... dashboard timers.

Anyway, I may have posted this link several months ago, but not sure. In any event, they have updated this site substantially and now have a very active BBS as well. They've even got a photo of a '69 911 factory rally car with Heuer rally timers mounted on the dash strip.

Proud of ya Curt... the first step to recovery is admitting your problem.

The next step... is surrendering your worldly precision timing possessions to the nearest S Registry member.

That would be ME in case you're wondering.

    Unhappy Damn!

Curt, when Heidi and I were down at Amelia Island for a conference a few years ago (5 maybe), I stopped into a gun shop to scope out the wares. On top of the case was a set of Heuer timers mounted on the same type of backer plate as above. The old fella had them in his airplane back in the day. We settled on a price of $200. Just the thing for Heidi's '68 Lightweight. As I was about to hand over the dough, he got a far away look in his eye as he talked about the old days in that plane and decided the set was not for sale after all. Nope! Couldn't and wouldn't listen to reason as I ple-e-eaded.....DAMN!!!!!!!! Prolly worth twice that that now!

    Oh well.

If it was like the set pictured, they're more likely worth $1200-$1500 in todays market!

Here's a pic from Rennsport at Daytona of the setup in an ST from the 1970 Rallye Monte Carlo.

    Opinion?

Are these Hanhart timers in the same quality range as the Heuers? Found these in England. Thanks TFM

Sienfeld had a set installed on his 356 that was shown at the parade in Tampa a couple of years ago. Pretty cool.

The Hanharts don't have the 'coolness' factor of the Heuers and weren't used much in the 911 rally cars, probably more appropriate for late 50s/early 60s. Quality wise? About the same, maybe even better. The bottom photo shows Hanhart's new remake of their original.
