    Dansk sport muffler color

    I had promised in a, much earlier, thread that I would post a picture of the twin outlet dansk sport muffler after I had put a few hundred miles on it. Thanks to the recent site hack, many of the old threads are not presently accessable.

    Anyway, for those that remember, or care: This is a mild steel, twin outlet (shortened) dansk muffler. It was recieved painted black and run for about three hundred miles. You can see how the heat discolored the finish. I am going to have it jet hot coated to attempt matching the light-medium grey factory rallye color.

    To be expected...I've never seen a "high temp" paint that really is. I do understand that the ceramic coatings, like Jet hot, really do stick...

    After about 7300 miles (WOW - Already!!) they still look great...

    The JetHot Gray is a little lighter then the factory ... but with exhaust, there's always a color differential between what gets 'hot' and what gets kind'a hot. The hot parts, the headers as they come out of the exchangers, stay a little lighter in color like when they first came from JetHot. However the 'cooler' parts, the exchangers and the muffler have warmed into a slightly darker/greener gray almost identical to the factory finish...

    BTW - With any rebuild there's inevitable oil leeks, spills, etc, etc... with the JetHot finish you can go in with acetone and a scrubby and clean'm up...
    pretty damn bulletproof...

    A little pricy ... but am very happy with the results...

    Thanks, Chuck. Your inspirational photos are going to make that check a little easier to write. I want mine to be the same color as Don's 68 rallye car.

    Mine will be a little shorter though...that did not sound right. I will remove that link if Rennman objects??

    Hope too see you all in Ventura. I hear that I will be a member of the parking lot police on Saturday Morning...please have your passes ready.

    how about some chrome exhaust tips...

    I do not know the owner...but this car has been a favorite of mine for a few years.

    shawn - must admit you have excellent taste in the oldies. here is a liestritz that i had ceramic coated for $100 at a local powder coating shop. the straps were also ceramic coated for $10 each. the finish looked new 2K miles later when sold and replaced with sport dansk.

    Dang Bob, are you certain that you are not an early car restoration guy in disguise. It certainly appears that your working toward concour points with the part treatment in those pics.
